Rev. David Kalas
Lead Pastor
- Phone: 920-437-9252, Ext. 101
The Reverend David Kalas was appointed to First United Methodist Church in Green Bay in July, 2011. Becoming the pastor here is a homecoming for David, for he was born and baptized in this church. And his father, Dr. J. Ellsworth Kalas, was Pastor here from 1956-1962.
Prior to returning to Green Bay, David served churches in Whitewater and Appleton. Earlier, he worked in both pastoral and youth ministries in the Virginia Conference and in the East Ohio Conference.
David identifies his goals for the church in three, simple statements:
-
The church ought to be a place where people meet Christ and grow in their relationship with Him.
-
The church ought to be where people are growing in the knowledge and understanding of the Bible.
-
The church ought to be a place where people are experiencing genuine, meaningful Christian fellowship.
"If those things are really happening in an individual's life and the life of a church," David says, "then everything else that is good will come naturally."
David and his wife, Karen, have three daughters, Angela, Lydia, and Susanna.
