Barb Hayes has been on the staff at First UMC since 1988. Barb oversees all programming for children from birth through fifth grade. She has been a member of First Church for thirty years. Barb has seen significant growth in the Sunday School program during her tenure. She implemented the workshop rotational model for grades one through five in 2002. Barb also began and developed the weekday program, First Preschool, which is now in it's fourteenth year.
Barb was born and raised in West Bend, Wisconsin and grew up in the Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church there. She graduated from UW – Whitewater with a degree in Elementary Education. Barb taught kindergarten in Beloit and Pulaski for six years prior to raising her family. Barb and her husband Pat have three daughters. Heather, a graduate of UW – Madison, is married and living in Ecuador. Heidi. a graduate of the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, is married and lives in Milwaukee. Laura is a junior at UW Madison.
In her spare time, Barb enjoys tending to her home and cooking for her family along with walking her dog, reading and spending time in Door County.
