First Preschool & Daycare

Little Lambs for 2's:
  • Tuesday OR Friday 9:00 - 11:00am

We follow a Christian Toddler Curriculum which includes small and large group activities, art, music and movement, Bible time, outdoor play, and teacher assisted free play which promotes positive social skills.

3 Year Olds (must be 3 & potty trained by September 1):
  • Tuesday & Friday, 9:00 - 11:30am

The 3 year old class emphasizes group interaction and social development through age-appropriate activities. Music, art, sensory play, and Bible time are just of few of the activities offered in this program.

Pre-K (4 - 5 years old):
  • Monday, Wednesday & Thursday, 9:00am - 1:00pm

The Pre-K class reinforces social skills and focuses on kindergarten readiness by using play to teach early learning reading and math skills. Two teachers provide this group with one-to-one time for each child, as well as small and large group activities. This class uses the "Handwriting Without Tears" curriculum, and includes Scholastic "Let's Find Out", Kids on the Move, and "Lunch Bunch." Bring a nutritious bag lunch and dress for outdoor play.

Purpose

First Preschool will provide a quality educational program in a Christian environment. Through age-appropriate activities, we will emphasize God's love for all. We will help each child develop a positive Christian attitude toward themselves, others, and school. First Preschool will provide experiences that will encourage: spiritual growth, intellectual growth, social interaction, physical growth, and a positive self-image.

Sponsorship

First Preschool is a ministry of First United Methodist Church. It is self-supporting and governed by a Preschool Board that reports to the Children's Council of First UMC. This board sets policy, serves in an advisory capacity and actively participates in the operation of the Preschool with assistance of our paid staff.

Curriculum

Our play based program offers a balance of group activities for children age two to five. Teachers promote positive peer relationships and a sense of community through developmentally appropriate activities.

Staff

First Preschool has an experienced team of trained and certified teachers who meet the requirements set forth by the Preschool Board and the Department of Health and Family Services of the State of Wisconsin. Our teachers have training in CPR/AED, first aid, child abuse and neglect, Shaken Baby training, as well as receiving the required annual continuing education in early childhood education.

Enrollment

Church members will be given the first opportunity to enroll beginning in late January. Returning students must re-enroll. Early in February, enrollment will be opened to the community. Two year old classes will be limited to 10 children. Three year old classes will have no more than 14 children. Multi-age classes will have no more than 14. Four and five year old class will have no more than 18 children.

A registration form and fee of $50.00 will secure a place for your child in the program. School will begin after Labor Day and end before Memorial Day.
